Ready to start planning your Disney Vacation, but can’t decide the best time to go? Well, if you ask these Disney fans, any time is the best time to visit Walt Disney World! There are definitely pros and cons to when you decide to go. There are lots of factors to consider when choosing the best time to visit the parks, such as crowd levels, weather, special events, etc. Rest assured, we will help you narrow your options down as to what time you think will be the best option for you and your family to visit.
Peak and Off Seasons
Peak season at Walt Disney World is usually during holiday periods, school breaks, most of the summer vacation months, and almost all of the weekends throughout the year. Expect crowd levels to be moderate to heavy during these time frames. Especially during the holiday seasons. Some parks can even reach to capacity during these times!! Peak season also brings higher ticket and resort hotel prices. So if you are trying to do Disney on a budget and want save a little money on tickets and resort hotels, we suggest visiting during the off season. If you are traveling with school aged kiddos and can’t avoid traveling during peak season, then we recommend traveling in the early to mid June time frame. The crowds seem to be at a moderate level during this time.
Off season at Disney is between January to early February and September through early November. Expect lower crowds, lower ticket prices, and great hotel rates during this time period! During this time however, is when the parks do a lot of their refurbishments to rides and attractions as well as resort hotel refurbishments. If you want to be sure you get the most out of your visit by getting in all the attractions, keep in mind that some of your options will be limited.
Weather
Welcome to the “Sunshine State” right! I love the warm, sometimes hot, sometimes VERY hot Florida weather. My husband, not so much. The weather in central Florida may have a huge deciding factor as to what time of the year you would like to visit the park. Florida usually maintains warmer temperatures throughout the year, but during the summer months, it can just become downright miserably HOT!! During the summer months, you can also always expect a thunderstorm or two daily, so don’t forget those ponchos and umbrellas! Rainy days at Disney are way better than any day at home. The summer season usually lasts from May to October. Even though my husband hates the hot weather, one of our favorite times to visit is the first of June. In fact, our first trip to Disney was in June, so it is a very special time for us! If any of you are like my hubby and hate the hot temperatures, the summer months may not be a great choice.

Winter months in central Florida are usually quite short and dry, with average temperatures in the 60’s. Expect the nights to get quite chilly, especially when the winds pick up. Winter season usually starts in November and ends mid March. I will say, there is no place like Disney for the holidays. It’s just simply MAGICAL! You may see “Frozen” things everywhere through out the parks, but nothing is ever really frozen in Florida. If you love the cooler weather and don’t mind packing heavier/warmer clothing, then this is the perfect time for you to visit. It’s also nice to get away from those colder temps and have a nice sunny vacay!

We absolutely LOVE visiting Disney in the spring!!! Expect almost perfect temperatures, with the average highs in the low 80s and average lows in the low 60s. Perfect weather right? Also, Disney World is BEAUTIFUL during the spring time! The flower gardens at EPCOT’s flower and garden festival are absolutely breathtaking. We try to visit every year in the month of April because of the nice weather and beautiful flowers.

Boo to you and Boo to you! It’s Fall Y’all! While it may not feel much like fall weather in central Florida, Disney will immerse you in everything fall! With pumpkins and fall decor everywhere you turn, you won’t want to miss Disney World in the fall. The only downside to visiting in the fall? Hurricane season. Hurricane season starts in June and lasts until November, but usually peaking in August and September. If you plan on visiting during these months, better keep an eye out on the weather before heading down. Although, I hear being stuck at Disney during a hurricane isn’t so bad, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
We have been during every season of the year and we definitely have our favorite times to go. Each season has different things to offer, such as festivals, holiday parties, and special park anniversary celebrations! During the holidays at WDW, you will have the opportunity to attend special ticketed events such as, Halloween and Christmas parties. These happen only on certain nights during the holiday seasons. EPCOT center offers several different festivals to attend throughout every season of the year. They offer special food booths with some of the most delicious food from around the world, as well as concerts and special events throughout the park! All of these are some of the best reasons to visit the parks!!
Disney has endless activities and events to offer and no matter what time of year you choose to visit, there will always be something fun and exciting to see and do. For the young and the young at heart, Disney will always bring out your imagination and make your dreams come true. So, hurry up and pick your dates and pack your bags because guess what? You’re going to Disney World!!
